Hadith and Aqidah Research Institute (formerly known as the Selangor Institute of Hadith Studies) was officially established on 26 March 2006 through a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS). On 4 July 2007, the 21st State Executive Council Meeting approved the proposal to establish the Selangor Institute of Hadith Studies, officially abbreviated as INHAD.
On 23 May 2018, during the 4/2018 KUIS Management Meeting, the name INHAD was changed to the Hadith and Aqidah Research Institute. This change involved merging the administration of INHAD with ASDEC (Aqidah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah and Da’wah Development Center). The purpose of this merger was to strengthen the organizational structure, simplify administrative processes, and broaden INHAD's operations, given the close connection between hadith and the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah.
The main objective of establishing the Hadith and Aqidah Research Institute (INHAD) is to serve as a national and international reference center in the fields of hadith and Islamic creed studies. In line with this, INHAD strives to develop short-term course programs, establish collaborations and networks with industry partners, commercialize research outputs, and contribute beneficially to society and the nation.
In terms of organizational structure, INHAD operates under a framework where the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Community and Industry Networking act as advisors. INHAD is led by a Director, supported by two (2) Heads of Unit, three (3) Coordinators, one (1) Assistant Registrar, one (1) Administrative Assistant, five (5) Principal Consulting Fellows, and two (2) Academic Fellows.
